The El Peral elevator is one of 16 elevators in the city of Valparaiso, Chile. Inaugurated on December 7, 1901, it connects the Plaza de Justicia - opposite Plaza Sotomayor - in the city plan, with the Paseo Yugoslavo, located in Cerro Alegre. It was declared a National Monument of Chile, in the category of Historical Monument, through the Exempt Decree No. 866, on September 1, 1998.


The elevator El Peral in its beginnings worked with a steam engine, was requested by the foreign colonies that lived in Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion. Mainly, you can access it from the Plaza de la Justicia, near Plaza Sotomayor, reaches a level of 40 meters, to reach the Yugoslav walk, you can find the Palacio Baburiza among others and hosts a multitude of artistic expressions in its streets.
